Computer Science Mentorship Program

ETC is providing one-on-one mentorship to guide students toward their goals in a Computer Science related topic.

From January-August 2023, we built a week-long computer science “bootcamp” to introduce high school students to the world of programming. Our team made progress towards our goal of equal access to STEM education resources in Michigan. This year, we’re providing one-on-one mentorship to continue to guide students toward their goals.

Interested in being a Mentor?

If you’re interested in being a mentor this year, please fill out this form. We will work on matching you with a mentee best suited for their goals and interests. After matching, you will be meeting each week virtually with your mentee. We will hold group meetings once every 2 weeks with the mentors to navigate challenges and work on improving the overall program.

Our Mission

  • More and more college applications are requiring a specific application to the computer science major. Communities without equitable access to computer science resources are therefore placed at a disadvantage to entering CS-related careers. We want to break down these barriers for students in our community.

  • With one-on-one mentorship, we can guide students towards their goals, whether it’s learning a new coding language, building a project, or applying to colleges/jobs. Personalizing each student’s journey will allow them to advance at a pace that suits them, while gaining valuable advice experienced mentors!

  • Through offering online mentorship meetings, we can reach students far and wide. Mentors and mentees can work together to find ideal times to meet.
